Who We Are

We bring travelers together in the largest hostel network in the USA. From local tours and experiences to experiential learning programs, HI USA strives to bring moments of cultural understanding to our guests and community members. HI USA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, member‑based organization that reinvests surpluses back into hostels and programs to increase impact year after year.

Guide small groups of HI NYC visitors to free/affordable cultural events and celebrations across New York City, including festivals, parades, museum nights, and more. Provide simple logistics, ensure everyone feels welcome, and share the fun of exploring NYC’s vibrant culture. Commit twice a month through August at the latest.

• Seasonal or holiday‑themed celebrations

• Meet new people from all over the world, including travelers, staff, and fellow volunteers

• Build skills in public speaking, foreign languages, intercultural communication, and more
• Earn HI USA membership and overnights at HI USA hostels
• Training provided and flexible schedule
• Have fun while making a difference!

HI USA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit education association. Our purpose is to “Inspire a deeper understanding of people, places, and cultures for a more tolerant world.” Revenues from overnight stays and memberships are reinvested in mission delivery.
