Become a Career Mentor with Street Wise Partners
Talent is everywhere, but access to opportunity is not. Many talented adults face barriers to employment due to systemic inequities, limited professional networks, and unequal access to career resources.
Street Wise Partners works to close the opportunity gap by connecting professionals with motivated job seekers from under-resourced communities. Through one‑on‑one mentorship, volunteers help mentees build the skills, confidence, and connections needed to secure and maintain meaningful employment.
ResponsibilitiesAs a Street Wise Partners mentor, you will be paired with an adult mentee who is unemployed or underemployed and guide them through a structured career development program. Mentors provide support with resume development, interview preparation, professional communication, networking, and other essential job search skills.
- Participate in six 2‑hour mentoring sessions over a 13‑week program cycle
- Attend weekly sessions held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays
- Maintain regular communication with your mentee between sessions
- Provide encouragement, accountability, and career guidance throughout the program
As a Street Wise Partners mentor, you will:
- Make a direct impact by helping someone achieve their career goals
- Strengthen your leadership, coaching, and communication skills
- Expand your professional network by connecting with more than 1,000 Street Wise Partners volunteers through networking events and community activities
- Gain meaningful volunteer experience that enhances your professional development
- Have opportunities to take on additional leadership roles, including serving on a Street Wise Partners board or committee
No prior mentoring experience is required. We provide the training, resources, and support you need to be an effective mentor.
Qualifications- Age 22+ (adult)
