Director of Major Gifts, Eastern Region
Oversees CRI’s major donor program for donors located in the geographic area assigned to raise resources to fund research necessary to advance groundbreaking discoveries and build a world immune from cancer.
This is a Hybrid role in our NYC office
Responsibilities- Manage a portfolio of 100 – 150 major donors ($10,000+).
- Design and execute a strategy for all donors in the portfolio, including cultivation, stewardship, solicitation, and acknowledgement.
- Manage the annual portfolio projection process and provide real‑time updating of revenue projections.
- Leverage CRM to track donor engagement and relationship moves management.
- Collaborate with development, marketing and program colleagues to create compelling engagement opportunities for donors and prospective donors, including outreach content, events and other opportunities to connect donors to CRI’s programs, research and impact.
- Partner with CEO, CDO and board members to grow major donor support, leveraging events, network outreach and other approaches to connect prospective donors to CRI’s mission and impact.
- Partner with program and finance teams to create proposals, gift agreements and reports for grants.
- Manage reporting calendar for all gifts with reporting specifications.
- Partner with the Director of Individual Giving and the Director of Development Operations to support the internal prospecting process for donors who have potential to give above the major donor threshold.
- Minimum 5 years’ non‑profit development experience with direct donor stewardship and solicitation, or similar relevant experience in mission‑oriented sales.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience managing a portfolio of 75+ donors.
- A Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s degree/MBA is preferred, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience working with a diverse community of stakeholders.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Familiarity with the donor life‑cycle and moves management.
- Knowledge of a range of giving vehicles is preferred.
- Proficient in using CRM, Google, Microsoft, Slack, professional communication tools, and project management software.

We offer competitive compensation and benefits tailored to factors such as location, role complexity, and experience. For roles in New York City, the estimated base salary range is $150-175K per year.
