Alumni Engagement Coordinator

Location: Brooklyn, NY
Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday–Thursday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM;
Friday: 9:00 AM – 1:30 PM, with occasional weekend events
Salary: Based on Experience

Position Summary

We are seeking a proven planner and relationship-builder with demonstrated success in engagement and community development to serve as our Alumni Engagement Coordinator. The successful candidate will be a highly articulate communicator with a passion for educational and community-focused missions, skilled at building meaningful relationships and fostering long-term engagement.

This individual will be responsible for planning, directing, and managing all alumni activities, with a strong emphasis on events, communications, and alumni engagement initiatives.

Responsibilities Alumni Engagement & Development
  • Identify alumni donor prospects through research and cultivation efforts.
  • Plan and execute a robust alumni engagement program, including high-profile events and special initiatives.
  • Organize annual milestone reunions, including 10-year, 25-year, and 50-year reunions, collaborating closely with reunion committees.
  • Produce and distribute alumni newsletters.
  • Build and maintain alumni websites, campaign donation pages, and social media platforms.
  • Coordinate with vendors for the production, printing, and distribution of materials.
Relationship Building & Stewardship
  • Oversee alumni stewardship and cultivation initiatives.
  • Plan and coordinate meetings with alumni regarding philanthropic opportunities.
  • Coordinate gift packages and appreciation items for alumni and volunteers.
  • Manage monthly birthday outreach and special recognition communications.
  • Coordinate condolence outreach and related communications.
  • Conduct alumni interviews and gather content for newsletters and communications.
Events
  • Collaborate with internal departments including Communications, IT, Operations, and Finance to support event execution.
  • Coordinate with vendors including caterers, photographers, videographers, printers, graphic designers, security personnel, and maintenance teams.
  • Partner with alumni committees and class leaders to organize reunion logistics and programming.
  • Produce reunion journals and event materials.
  • Develop, distribute, and analyze post-event surveys.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to alumni, donors, supporters, and community members.
Database Management
  • Conduct prospect research and donor identification.
  • Maintain detailed records of donor communications and interactions.
  • Ensure database integrity through accurate and consistent data entry.
  • Generate reports and mailing lists for campaigns, events, and organizational initiatives.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Support the Director of Annual Giving with additional projects, including grant writing, fundraising initiatives, and development marketing efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess outstanding planning, fundraising, relationship-building, and communication skills. This individual should thrive in a collaborative environment and be comfortable working within a large, fast-paced organization.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Strong event planning and project management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop innovative and effective engagement programs.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience with donor management databases.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to perform effectively under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Prior nonprofit experience highly preferred.
  • Basic Hebrew reading and writing skills are a plus.
