Raised Bed Building at Vinegar Hill Community Garden

Join Vinegar Hill Community Garden and NYC Parks Green Thumb for an educational volunteer day building up and repairing existing raised beds using hand and power tools. We'll provide all the tools, training, and guidance to ensure a productive and safe volunteer day! Please wear sturdy work shoes and weather-appropriate clothing and bring water and snacks. Note some tasks will involve lifting heavy materials and extended periods of bending, squatting, and moving.

Vinegar Hill Community Garden is a community green space in Brooklyn focused on gardening, environmental stewardship, and neighborhood connection. The garden includes fruit trees, community herb beds, a bee colony, composting initiatives, and shared growing spaces designed to bring people together through collective care and education.

This event is co-hosted by NYC Parks Green Thumb. We are proud to be the nation’s largest urban community gardening program, sustaining over 550 gardens throughout New York City. Green Thumb community gardens are organized, led, and cared for by dedicated volunteer gardeners who critically upkeep them as public green spaces. With Green Thumb’s support, community gardens are centers of environmental justice, ensuring that our city is fairer, safer, and greener for all.
