As a Job Coach, you’ll be providing hands‑on training and development to shelter residents around the soft and hard skills of employment and job retention. You will work closely with employment specialists and case managers to tailor activities to match skill levels, service needs, and employment goals of residents, and perform other employment support tasks as needed such as scheduling interviews and following up with potential employers.
Job-relatedDuties – Essential Functions
- Engage residents in skills and employability development such as effective job search techniques, effective communication including phone and video call etiquette, resume building and cover letter writing, interviewing skills, dress code and hygiene, time management, task management, and professional behavior.
- Conduct skills building workshops, including writing labs, mock interviews, on‑the‑job do’s and don’ts, and other soft skills to better prepare them for employment.
- Assess residents’ skills development progress and interpersonal interactions to inform workshop and training topics.
- Provide direct employment support assistance to residents, including but not limited to scheduling interviews and appointments, obtaining vital documents, and securing clothing resources.
- Create and implement monthly activity calendar.
- Document and report data on interviews scheduled and attended and all other employment activities.
Salary: $27.41 an hour – approximately $57,000 annual.
FSLA:
Non‑exempt. Overtime is available.
Schedule:
10:00 AM – 6:00 PM Tuesday‑Saturday (off Sunday & Monday).
Location:
Eastchester, Bronx, NY.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field preferred.
- A minimum of 4 years’ experience in job development and placement activities.
- Knowledge of labor market trends in a variety of career fields.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office applications.
- Multilingual preferred – English/Spanish is a plus.
