Volunteer Coordinator Intern – New York/New Jersey RAI Office

This internship supports the Volunteer Coordinator(s) and Community Relations Officer within the Development and Communications Department of the New York/New Jersey Resettlement, Asylum and Integration (RAI) Office. The intern will assist in recruiting, training, managing, and monitoring volunteers and interns.

Responsibilities
  • Recruit, screen, train, and supervise volunteers and mentors.
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to volunteers and interns.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date data across relevant databases.
  • Record and analyze program data pertaining to volunteers and interns.
  • Compile and post volunteer and intern descriptions as needed.
  • Assist in managing volunteer and intern timesheets and entries each month.
  • Conduct outreach, networking activities, and advertising to recruit and educate volunteers and partners.
  • Oversee onboarding and exit processes for all interns and volunteers, including background checks, account setup and closure, and orientation sessions.
  • Coordinate with program managers and staff on internship and volunteer opportunities.
Qualifications
  • Previous volunteer management, recruitment, or administrative experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with Salesforce database management is a plus.
  • Cultural sensitivity and detail-oriented with proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills in a cross‑cultural environment.
  • Willingness to adhere to IRC volunteer and workplace policies.
