The Center For Justice Innovation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing community safety and racial justice. Since 1996, we have worked with communities, courts, and those most directly affected by the justice system to build stronger, healthier, and more equitable neighborhoods. With a team of over 900 staff and an annual budget of $130 million, our mission is carried out through three core strategies: operating programs that pilot new ideas and address local challenges;

conducting original research to evaluate what works—and what doesn’t; and providing expert assistance and policy guidance to reformers across the country and beyond.

The Queens Community Justice Center is seeking a Mentor for its Plus+ Mentoring program, a transformation service for youth aged 13‑18 on ICM‑level probation residing in Queens. Reporting to the Program Coordinator, the Mentor will provide one‑on‑one support and facilitate evidence‑based group sessions using the Power Source curriculum. The Mentor will also offer administrative support when needed.

• Provide one‑on‑one mentoring and case management services to participants (service plan, referrals, and follow‑up) at least once a week.
• Facilitate group sessions twice a week using the Power Source curriculum focused on skill development and goal setting.
• Maintain thorough and accurate file‑keeping and reporting on participants’ progress and compliance.
• Enter data to ensure proper tracking of participants and measure program success.
• Participate in regular staff meetings to coordinate program needs and objectives.
• Provide enrollment and administrative coverage when necessary.
• Attend evening and weekend community events when necessary.
• Assist in special events and collaborate on larger QCJC projects as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator.

A high school diploma (or higher) and at least two years of experience in youth development work. Excellent written and verbal communication and computer skills. Extremely outgoing, personable, and professional, with creativity and critical thinking to engage a marginalized population. Detail‑oriented self‑starter who can take initiative and succeed in a high‑paced environment.

Part‑time (10 hours per week), Tuesdays and Thursdays 1:00 PM–6:00 PM, with occasional nights and weekends.

Queens, New York.

$27.48 – $28.57 per hour, based on a 35‑hour work week and commensurate with experience.

We prioritize mental health care, offering services such as Talkspace and Ginger through our healthcare plans. A 403(b) retirement plan with a two‑to‑one employer contribution up to 5% is also provided.
