POSITION SUMMARY:

CRED is a cohort-based vocational training program for at-risk individuals between the ages of 18-40 years old. The program provides classroom instruction, case management services, internship opportunities, and job placement services designed to help clients earn a Commercial Driver’s License and obtain employment in the transportation industry. The Outreach Specialist will focus on recruiting clients and supporting Case Managers with program retention.

The Outreach Specialist will utilize street outreach, community partnerships, and other recruitment methods to develop a robust pipeline of eligible program clients. The individual selected for this position will be under the direct supervision of the CRED Program Director, will conduct themselves in a professional manner, and will comply with all standards set forth by United Activities Unlimited and the NYC Department of Youth & Community Development.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):

Conduct in-person outreach to recruit clients for the CRED Program.

Circulate flyers, pamphlets, and other marketing materials throughout target communities.

Attend community events to spread awareness for the CRED Program and engage potential clients.

Utilize communication templates to contact individuals through emails, phone calls, and text messages.

Maintain outreach tracking tools, including spreadsheets and checklists designed to document communications with participants and record their progress.

Check-in with CRED clients periodically throughout the course of the program to ensure quality experiences.

Liaise with CRED clients to resolve program-related issues and foster personal and professional growth.

Attend regularly scheduled meetings with co-workers, programmatic partners, and other stakeholders.

Work collaboratively with other CRED staff members to monitor client progress, draft case notes, and conduct follow-up services.

Participate in team meetings, conferences, professional development trainings, and other program-related events and activities.

Assist with other departmental duties and projects as needed

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or GED required;
Associate’s degree preferred

Must be 18 years or older2+ years of experience in outreach services, preferred.

Must be willing and able to work in-person.

Strong working knowledge using Microsoft Excel/Word/PowerPoint and the Suite platforms.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to thoughtfully and accurately assess and respond to individual needs.

Excels working in a teamwork-based environment to achieve objectives and outcomes while demonstrating the ability to work independently.

Demonstrates an understanding of and values individuals' different capacities, cultures, and abilities.
