Volunteer: Volunteer Recruitment Strategy Consultant

This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections.
We are seeking a skilled volunteer to help Maya's Hope create a sustainable volunteer recruitment and retention strategy that will support our continued growth. As an organization serving children with disabilities and special needs in the Philippines and Ukraine, we rely heavily on dedicated volunteers to conduct family interviews, review applications, assist with fundraising, communications, and program support. We would like to develop a clear roadmap for attracting, screening, onboarding, and retaining qualified volunteers.

The ideal outcome of this project is a practical, actionable volunteer recruitment strategy that helps us build a strong pipeline of mission‑driven volunteers, particularly interviewers who help assess families applying for assistance. We hope to establish systems and processes that can be replicated and scaled as our programs continue to grow. Ultimately, this project will help ensure that more children receive timely support by strengthening the volunteer infrastructure that powers our work.
Volunteers are the foundation of Maya's Hope. Our ability to identify, interview, and support children in need depends on having a strong and engaged volunteer team. This project will help us build a sustainable pipeline of qualified volunteers, particularly interviewers who play a critical role in assessing families applying for assistance. By strengthening our volunteer recruitment and retention efforts, we can process applications more efficiently, expand our capacity, and ensure that support reaches vulnerable children in a timely manner.

Ultimately, a stronger volunteer infrastructure will allow Maya's Hope to serve more children with disabilities and special needs in the Philippines and Ukraine, providing access to medical care, therapy, and essential daily needs that improve their quality of life.
To ensure the project's success, Maya's Hope will provide the volunteer consultant with access to our current volunteer recruitment materials, role descriptions, application process, and onboarding resources. We will also share information about our existing volunteer structure, recruitment efforts, challenges, and organizational goals. The consultant will work directly with the Executive Director and key volunteers who oversee recruitment and program operations.

We will schedule regular check‑in meetings throughout the project to provide feedback, answer questions, and review recommendations as they are developed. We are committed to implementing practical recommendations and are looking for a strategy that can be realistically executed by a volunteer‑run nonprofit. By providing clear communication, timely feedback, and access to relevant information, we aim to create a collaborative partnership that results in a sustainable volunteer recruitment framework that supports our long‑term growth.
