Bilingual Community Outreach & Support Specialist

Position:
Bilingual Community Outreach & Support Specialist Addressing domestic violence and trafficking with a focus on Abuse in Later Life

Full-time | Benefits Eligible | 35 hours per week

Salary: $60,000

Hours:

M-F, 8:30am - 4:30pm, Schedule may include occasional evenings

On or after September 9th, 2026

Department/Locations:
East Hampton, Riverhead, and/or Hauppauge office locations as needed. Regular travel required to various community partner locations in Suffolk County including the East End as needed for programming. Travel to the Hauppauge office when necessary.

Purpose

The Community Outreach and Case Manager is responsible for expanding community awareness of abuse in later life, strengthening partnerships throughout Suffolk County, and providing trauma-informed case management and supportive services to individuals experiencing abuse, with an emphasis on adults age 50 and older. This position develops and delivers prevention education, facilitates community-building programming, and connects survivors to resources that promote safety, independence, and well-being.

This position is funded 80% through The Retreat's Abuse in Later Life (ALL) Office on Violence Against Women grant, serving adults age 50 and older, and 20% through agency-funded services for other survivors. The position requires some evening hours, occasional weekends, and travel throughout Suffolk County.

Responsibilities

Case Management

  • Provide trauma-informed crisis intervention and case management to survivors experiencing abuse.
  • Complete assessments and intakes and develop individualized service plans.
  • Provide advocacy, safety planning, referrals, and follow-up.
  • Assistance navigating housing, healthcare, legal, financial, and public benefits.
  • Coordinate internal and external referrals.
  • Maintain accurate client records.

Community Outreach

  • Develop relationships with healthcare providers, libraries, senior centers, faith communities, law enforcement, and community organizations.
  • Coordinate outreach events.
  • Deliver presentations and educational workshops.

Partnership Development

  • Strengthen Coordinated Community Response (CCR) team
  • Recruit new community partners.
  • Lead multidisciplinary collaborations.

Program Administration

  • Maintain Apricot database.
  • Prepare grant reports.
  • Collect program data.
  • Assist with grant compliance.
  • Collect and report program data required under Office on Violence Against Women grant guidelines.
  • Participate in activities necessary to meet grant deliverables and performance measures.
  • Assist in implementation of Abuse in Later Life program goals and evaluation activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Public Health, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field preferred, with three to five years of experience in client services, community outreach, advocacy, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated commitment to trauma-informed, survivor-centered practice and cultural humility when working with diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, stalking, human trafficking, elder abuse, and related victim services, or the ability and willingness to develop expertise in these areas.
  • Experience developing and facilitating educational workshops, presentations, or group programs for diverse audiences.
  • Strong public speaking, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with community organizations and stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries, exercise sound judgment, and protect client confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic client data systems.
