The International Rescue Committee (IRC) helps people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover, and gain control of their future. The IRC’s Resettlement, Asylum, and Integration (RAI) department creates opportunities for refugees and other vulnerable migrants to survive and thrive in the US.
RAI serves nearly 50,000 individuals each year in the US through a diverse portfolio of programs aimed at achieving outcomes in five impact areas:
Health, Safety, Economic Wellbeing, Education, and Power. The New York and New Jersey office supports a diverse group of clients including refugees, asylees, asylum seekers, trafficking survivors, and immigrants from a range of backgrounds. The New York and New Jersey office programs are focused on refugee resettlement, economic empowerment, health and wellness, immigration services, anti-trafficking support, and more. - The Social Media Intern will work with the Development Team for New York and New Jersey.
- The Development Team is responsible for raising funds to support IRC programs, building community connections, engaging potential donors, and raising the profile of IRC in NY and NJ.
- The Social Media Intern will help the Development Team grow their social media presence to improve awareness, drive fundraising, and reach new audiences.
- Work with the Development Team to promote IRC’s work in New York and New Jersey to raise funding, engage supporters, and raise awareness.
- Create engaging content for all major social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, Linked In, Youtube, and others.
- Brainstorm ideas for social media projects and opportunities.
- Schedule content to be published on social media at ideal times.
- Assist with monitoring the social media channels and activities.
- Assist with curating social media content for events, stand‑alone campaigns, and other projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Volunteers must be based in the U.S.
- Interns must be based in US, must be a US citizen or have US work authorization, must be enrolled in post-secondary institution or have graduated from a post-secondary institution within last 2 years.
- The requirements include:
Currently enrolled in Undergraduate Program or Masters Program, or have graduated from a post-secondary institution within the last 2 years. - Applicants studying Communications, Public Relations, or Marketing are encouraged to apply.
- Experience working with Instagram, Facebook, Linked In, and Youtube platforms.
