Our flagship New York center houses weekly tefillah, learning programs, and nigun circles. The minyan is a cornerstone of the yeshiva, providing the surrounding community with vibrant weekday davening throughout the week.

Hadar seeks two Minyan Interns to anchor our weekday davening community in a staff‑like role focused on individual development and minyan operational excellence. Reporting to the Director of Tefillah and Music, this position carries weekly responsibilities, from holding the logistics of daily minyan to building relationships with community members to collaborating on tefillah programming throughout the year.

This is a meaningful opportunity for someone who cares about the life of a davening community and is ready to invest in developing the skills, from gabbai work to community engagement to public teaching, that go into making one thrive.

• Hold the minyan space by ensuring there is a minyan, daveners, gabbaim, and Torah readers for each service
• Welcome people to the space and be part of a rotation to ensure each service runs smoothly and the community feels held
• Distribute aliyot and other kibbudim, and cue community members for their roles
• Send reminder communications to the community (e.g., via Whats App)
• Create and maintain databases and resources, including a list of regular attendees
• Work closely with faculty leads on immersive programs to plan and run davening for special days and program weeks (such as Rosh Hodesh and Purim)
• Contribute to broader programmatic thinking around tefillah at Hadar

• Build relationships with community members and actively recruit new participants to the minyan community
• Be attentive to community members who may need support—navigating the siddur, knowing when to say kaddish, planning for a yahrzeit or lifecycle event
• Develop and practice the skill of giving divrei torah and divrei tefillah after davening, including on short notice
• Organize opportunities for community members to learn to lead davening and read Torah

This role comes with built‑in structured learning. Interns will benefit from weekly supervision focused on serving as the gabbai of a minyan, developing the practical, liturgical, and relational skills that make for excellent community leadership. Interns also organize opportunities for community members to learn to lead davening and read Torah, and are supported in developing as public teachers.

Approximately 10–12 hours per week over 9 months, beginning around Elul (late August) and running through the end May. Weekly hours break down roughly as follows:

• 1-2 Arvit minyan usually on Tuesdays
• Weekly tefilah working group meeting
• 1–2 additional hours per week for communications, outreach, and follow‑up

• A friendly, welcoming presence and ease with a variety of community members
• Attentiveness to logistical detail and comfort managing moving pieces in real time
• Fluency with the flow of the weekday service
• Enthusiasm for communal davening and investment in its health and growth
• Eagerness to develop skills in community engagement and marketing around weekly tefillah
• Residence on the Upper West Side, or willingness to commute reliably to arrive before 7:45 AM for morning minyan

$9,000 over 9 months.
