The Lead Pastor is responsible for providing spiritual oversight, pastoral leadership, and biblical direction for the church. This position serves as the primary spiritual leader of the church, overseeing the health, growth, and well being of the congregation while ensuring that the mission, vision, and values of the church are carried out with integrity and biblical alignment.
The Lead Pastor is responsible for shepherding church members through spiritual support, guidance, prayer, discipleship, and pastoral care. This role provides leadership and oversight to the pastoral team, while also supporting directors, ministry leaders, and team leads in fulfilling the mission of the church.
This position is responsible for leading and overseeing church teaching, preaching, curriculum, and spiritual formation, ensuring that all messages, teachings, and ministry materials remain biblically sound and aligned with the beliefs, culture, and vision of the church.
The Lead Pastor works collaboratively with the Executive Team in helping lead the overall direction and health of the organization. This role carries all responsibilities and expectations of an Executive Team member, including leadership oversight, strategic planning, ministry development, church health, and organizational support.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Providing spiritual leadership and vision for the church
- Leading and supporting the pastoral team and ministry leadership
- Shepherding and caring for church members and leaders
- Overseeing church teaching, curriculum, and discipleship development
- Ensuring biblical integrity and alignment across all ministries
- Supporting directors and ministry team leads in leadership and development
- Helping cultivate a healthy, unified, and spiritually growing church culture
- Participating in executive leadership decisions, strategy, and organizational oversight
- Supporting the overall mission, operations, and advancement of the church
The Lead Pastor is expected to lead with humility, integrity, wisdom, spiritual maturity, and a heart to serve both the church and its leadership faithfully.
