The Bowery Mission is a Christian, faith-based organization committed since the 1870s to serving people experiencing homelessness, hunger, and poverty. The Bowery Mission meets essential needs and creates transformative communities with men, women, children, and families in New York so that we can together overcome homelessness and poverty and flourish.

As a key member of the Choose Help team, the Outreach Specialist enhances outreach efforts and diversifies the pipeline into TBM’s programs. Increases the number of referrals and intakes into the Residential Program to achieve and sustain a full census. Increases the number of referring partnerships and strengthens current partnership. Supports TBM colleagues in developing linkages to external resources for TBM programs.

Collaborates with campus teams to provide a high-quality and timely intake experience. Works closely with Choose Help and Make Progress team members to discuss the effectiveness of recruiting efforts and referrals and make improvements. Keeps up to date records of guest/client engagement. Reports on recruitment activity and outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Enhance outreach efforts and diversify the pipeline into TBM’s adult programs.
  • Support increased visibility and usage of services within TBM’s continuum of care.
  • Schedule, plan, lead, or co-lead regular outreach and recruiting events throughout each week.
  • Ensure ongoing presentations of the residential program to Bowery and Tribeca campus guests (“in-reach”).
  • Maintain a regular rhythm of in-reach via alumni presentations.
  • Increase the number of referring partnerships and strengthen current partnerships.
  • Support TBM colleagues in developing linkages to external resources for TBM programs.
  • Work closely with relevant Choose Help and Make Progress team members to discuss the effectiveness of recruiting efforts, debrief cases of retention and attrition, and make improvements to the intake process.
  • Comply with all internal and external record‑keeping requirements and standards.
  • Report on recruitment efforts and outcomes.

Schedule:

9:00 am-5:30 pm most days, 11:00 am-7:30 pm once a week

Requirements
  • Embrace the organization’s Statement of Faith.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience.
  • 4+ years’ experience in a ministry, non‑profit, recruiting, or similar setting.
  • Integration of best practices for population served and Christian worldview.
  • Proficiency in Office technology.

  • F-80 Fire Safety Certification
  • Naloxone Administration

Salary commensurate with relevant education & experience: $55,000-$60,000 annually
