Bronx Works offers the unique opportunity to partner with social services programs to comprehensively support the whole individual and the whole family. Bronx Works Legal Services provides free, high-quality legal representation, and advice in the areas of Crime Victims law, Domestic Violence, Immigration, and Evictions. Bronx Works uses its diverse resources to offer holistic representation and advice with a particular focus on serving low-income and underserved populations

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Must attend and actively participate in all weekly unit meetings in-person to ensure collaboration, case coordination, and alignment on program goals.
  • Work collaboratively with the program staff to ensure critical needs of survivors are appropriately addressed by coordinating intake processes that will accommodate survivors who approach the program directly or through referrals from partner organizations.
  • Carry a caseload for which the attorneys provide representation in either administrative processes or litigation.
  • Develop training for the ongoing professional development of program staff.
  • Conduct outreach to underserved and other communities in need.
  • Ensure that data reporting requirements are met.
  • Working with a variety of third-party stakeholders, including partner social service agencies.
  • Maintain accurate and timely data entry in program databases.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for funders and internal tracking.
  • Attend internal and external meetings, including contract and agency trainings.
  • Provide coverage and program support as needed, including classroom and workshop assistance.
  • Participate in community outreach events, workshops, and Know Your Rights sessions.
  • Maintain detailed attendance and service records in compliance with program requirements.
  • Work at other Bronx Works sites as needed.
  • In-person work is an essential function of this position and may include, but is not limited to, intake, client meetings, conferences, CLEs, community outreach events with elected officials, and Know Your Rights trainings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of relevant program or administrative experience.
  • Experience working with survivors of trauma, immigrants and/or underserved communities is required.
  • Familiarity with legal advocacy and representation in family court seeking orders of protection.
  • Familiarity with legal advocacy and representation on immigration matters related the Violence Against Women Act.
  • Excellent oral advocacy, litigation, and writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and across issue area with diverse communities and institutions
  • Fluency in another language commonly spoken in NYC is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines in a high-volume environment.
  • Proficiency with modern office technology, including Microsoft Office, databases, email, and standard office equipment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice and working in low-income communities and communities of color to advance equity.
