Status: Full-Time Exempt

Schedule:

35 hours/week;
Monday-Friday, some flexibility with daily schedule and some weekend or evening events required.

Location: This position is in-person, working from Spring Creek Towers in East New York, Brooklyn.

Position Summary

The Opportunity Hub seeks a strategic, entrepreneurial, and relationship‑driven Director of Development to lead fundraising, donor engagement, and external relations during an exciting period of organizational growth. Reporting to the Executive Director and serving as a member of the senior leadership team, the Director of Development will design and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy that strengthens long‑term sustainability and diversifies revenue.

The Director will oversee institutional giving, individual giving, corporate partnerships, government funding, donor communications, fundraising events, and development operations in support of the organization’s projected annual budget of approximately $4 million.

This role requires both strategic vision and hands‑on execution. The successful candidate will be an accomplished fundraiser, skilled communicator, and collaborative leader who can build systems, cultivate meaningful relationships, activate board engagement, and translate community impact into compelling opportunities for investment and partnership. The ideal candidate has a natural ability to inspire, mentor, and develop others while building a strong culture of philanthropy across the organization.

Key Responsibilities Fundraising and Revenue Strategy
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with organizational priorities and growth goals.
  • Establish annual fundraising goals, monitor performance metrics, and drive results across all revenue streams.
  • Develop and oversee an annual development calendar that integrates fundraising campaigns, donor cultivation and stewardship activities, communications, grant deadlines, events, and key engagement opportunities.
  • Identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with major donors, foundations, and corporate partners, and directly manage a portfolio of key donors.
  • Partner with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to support donor cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, strategic relationship building and increased board engagement in fundraising activities.
  • Lead the planning and execution of signature fundraising events, donor gatherings, volunteer engagement opportunities, site visits, and other experiences that deepen supporters' connection to The Opportunity Hub's mission and impact.
Donor Engagement and External Relations
  • Strengthen and communicate The Opportunity Hub's case for support through compelling fundraising and donor communications.
  • Oversee development of appeals, sponsorship materials, annual reports, presentations, donor updates, and other fundraising collateral.
  • Ensure communications accurately reflect the strengths, experiences, and priorities of the communities served.
