Position Summary

Orr Group embeds teams inside nonprofits to support their fundraising efforts alongside them. As an Associate Director, you are a core part of these teams. You will help shape the fundraising strategies that move our clients' missions forward by producing and supporting the plans, strategies, and materials the team delivers to nonprofit leaders. You will also keep those engagements running by tracking milestones, timelines, and budgets, and keeping the team aligned and on track.

Responsibilities

Client Support & Execution
  • Support the development and timely delivery of client materials, such as reporting, database management, and research, at a consistently high standard
  • Manage work streams and deliverables with support from senior team members, including fundraising plans, major gift and prospect strategies, dashboards, prospect research, and campaign roadmaps
  • Ensure team deliverables align with the contract scope and support clients in meeting their fundraising and organizational goals
  • Participate in regular client meetings and build trusted relationships with the people you work with
Project Management
  • Track and manage milestones, tasks, and projects to ensure clear communication, regular updates, and team alignment
  • Keep project leadership current on deadlines and deliverables
Grow Your Expertise
  • Develop a deeper knowledge of fundraising and donor engagement practices
  • Support onboarding and training as the team grows, and contribute to process improvements that make our work better
  • Manage Associates on client teams, providing mentorship, feedback, and quality assurance
Qualifications
  • 3–5+ years of professional experience, ideally in nonprofit fundraising, consulting, campaign management, or philanthropy
  • 2+ years of experience managing complex projects
  • Strong understanding of nonprofit fundraising, including individual and/or institutional giving, donor cultivation, and stewardship
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills to foster internal and external relationships with diverse groups of people
  • Adept at working in fast‑paced environments and balancing competing priorities
  • Strong planning and alignment skills within team structures and project timelines
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a collaborative spirit
  • Self‑starter mentality with a growth mindset and commitment to continuous learning
  • Experience conducting detailed research and donor prospect research is a plus
  • Experience mentoring junior colleagues and coordinating across a team is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, experience using various fundraising software (iWave, Donor Atlas, Candid, etc.) is a plus
  • Strong Excel skills (e.g., formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis) to support reporting, dashboards, and data‑informed decision‑making
  • Openness to and experience with AI tools (e.g. Claude, Copilot) to improve efficiency and quality of work is a plus
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge and Salesforce is preferred but not required
  • Bachelor’s degree required; a degree in nonprofit management, public policy, or related field is a plus
Location
