JOB SUMMARY

CPC is seeking a thoughtful, proactive, and adaptable individual to join CPC’s Development Team. The Volunteer and Alumni Relations Coordinator will play a key role in expanding and engaging CPC's supporters through meaningful community building. With over 60 years of serving New York City, we're tapping into our historic roots by re-engaging alumni and developing recurring volunteer opportunities that align with CPC’s mission and values.

Reporting to the Major Giving Manager and in collaboration with the Individual Giving Team, the Volunteer and Alumni Relations Coordinator will strengthen individual giving efforts and contribute to a culture of philanthropy for CPC’s growing community.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Alumni Engagement
  • First point of contact for alumni relations.
  • Develop and implement strategies and systems to collect alumni contact lists from staff and other key individuals for both: 60+ years of former participants and incoming alumni members.
  • Work with the Individual Giving Team to develop alumni-specific communications.
  • Manage, maintain, and segment CPC's alumni database.
  • Lead and organize 1-2 annual alumni events, such as reunions, professional development workshops, and other event initiatives.
  • Input, track, and report alumni engagement metrics (attendance, volunteer hours, etc.) to make data-informed decisions and recommendations to create a robust alumni network.
Volunteer Engagement
  • First point of contact for external volunteers.
  • Collaborate with program staff to develop and implement recurring volunteer opportunities.
  • Train staff to be ambassadors that effectively communicate CPC's impact and empower volunteers to stay involved.
  • Lead volunteer operations: planning, coordinating, and executing events, with availability to be on-site when necessary.
  • Develop and implement a positive volunteer experience: outreach, intake, participation, stewardship, and retention.
  • Work with the Individual Giving Team to develop volunteer-specific communications.
  • Input and track volunteer data and metrics to make data-informed decisions and recommendations to ensure the sustainability of CPC's volunteer program.
Strategy
  • Develop and collaborate with the Individual Giving Team to create a holistic multi-year engagement strategy that considers how CPC engages with different audiences.
Donor Engagement
  • Organize 3-4 programmatic site visits for donors, directly coordinating with donors and staff.
  • Support Major Giving Manager with a multi-year campaign as needed.
Other
  • Design materials as needed.
  • Support the rest of the Development team as needed.
  • Special projects and duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Education
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant work experience in volunteer/alumni coordination
  • Has some experience in community organizing and relationship building; event planning and coordination; and/or working with all ages and backgrounds in an educational or community setting.
