PositionSummary
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Nurse Practitioner Fellow for the Emergency Department Fellowship Program in Manhattan. The successful candidate will provide, coordinate, and assure comprehensive medical care using sound medical knowledge and relevant standards of care; perform therapeutic, corrective, and prescriptive measures; and assume delegatory responsibilities as privileged Medical Staff of NYU Langone Health under supervision or collaboration.
Job ResponsibilitiesPROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Clinical — Performs complete health history, physical examination, and psychosocial assessment; documents and communicates patient information comprehensively and timely; orders laboratory, radiological, and diagnostic studies per protocols; formulates plan of care with the attending physician, patient, and family; collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to implement an appropriate plan of care; prescribes inpatient and discharge medications per NYS law (including controlled substances with DEA);
prescribes medical equipment, physical and occupational therapy, and home health services per protocol; practices as a member of the allied health staff per Medical Staff bylaws; performs delegated clinical duties; acts within the supervising/collaborating physician’s scope; evaluates and adjusts care plans; educates patients and families; serves as a professional role model; considers age and cultural needs in patient care. - Care Management & Coordination — Supports institutional mission and standards; plans and Organizes care to meet patient needs and optimize resource use; works with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement the therapeutic plan; participates in development and revision of standards and patient education materials; maintains timely communication with families and staff; provides consultation to nursing staff; facilitates continuity of care;
manages patient throughput during admission and discharge; models Core Values and participates in professional practice activities. - Academic and Professional Development — Prepares for weekly conferences; maintains mandatory conference attendance; participates in simulations and codes; manages CME allowances for conferences; promotes ongoing professional growth; maintains current expertise and CME requirements; serves as a clinical expert and resource for education through presentations and articles.
- Evaluation and Research — Uses evidence-based literature to support practice changes; collaborates on clinical studies; assists in protocols development and evaluation; participates in monitoring patient outcomes for quality and performance improvement.
To qualify you must have:
- Licensure:
Current New York Registered Professional Nurse license and Nurse Practitioner registration. - Education:
Master’s Degree in Nursing. - Certification: ANCC certification or equivalent certification for Nurse Practitioners in a clinical area of practice (as soon as feasible after graduation).
- Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association.
Required Licenses: NYS RN, NYS NP, BLS.
Preferred QualificationsAdvanced Life Support certifications (ACLS, PALS) or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) may be required based on privileges.
