Position: Registered Nurse- Nurse on Duty
Location: Northport

Northport VAMC is hiring for one RN
-Nursing Officer of the Day (NOD). The NOD assumes authority, responsibility, and accountability for managing and directing employees, staffing units, and allocating resources as necessary during weekends, holidays, and after-hours tours during the absence of nursing management/leadership.

* Responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care

* Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care

* Administer medications and procedures per established polices and guidelines

* Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team

* Core quality improvement process and initiative as well as customer services programs

* Acts in collaboration with the unit Nurse Managers to develop staffing plans for all clinical units throughout the facility, consulting with service ACNS as appropriate

* Manages various program resources (financial, human, material, and information) to facilitate safe, effective, and quality care to the patient population.

* Responsible and accountable for maintaining training required.

* May be assigned additional duties as area needs require.

Pay:
Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards
