Substitute Registered Professional Nurse

1.Protecting and maintaining student’s health by providing professional nursing services in accordance with
Nursing Standards and NYS licensing.
2.Providing NYS mandated and annual screening programs including vision, hearing, height, weight and
scoliosis.
3. Facilitating NYS mandated immunization and communicable disease control requirements, as well as
providing influenza immunization education.
4.Identifying and assessing students’ health needs, implementing services and evaluating plans of care which
impact student learning and achievement or safety.
5.Participating as members of the school’s multi-disciplinary team, interpreting medical data and writing
objectives for the health component of the IEP and/or 504 plans.
6.Acting as liaison between home and school, and community providers for medical issues.
7.Identifying and reporting school building safety or environmental issues which impact student or staff health
to the building administrator.
8.Participating as members of the school’s Core Safety Teams.

Upon completion of the hiring process, including all mandatory paperwork, candidates for all substitute positions must receive WCSD Board approval as a WCSD substitute prior to starting assignment date.

Dutchess County Application for Employment or Examination must be completed in its entirety, signed and either uploaded to Recruit Front or submitted to the Office of Human Resources.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from a school of nursing approved by the State Education Department and/or program as qualifying as a NYS Registered Nurse.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
New York State driver’s license. Possession of a license issued by the State of New York to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse and CPR (all ages) certification. License and certification renewals are required for continued employment.

Fingerprint clearance through NYS TEACH (NYSED) is required(Applicant for Employee)
