Nurse Manager, Behavioral Health - Brooklyn, NY ($145k-160k)
Our client, a hospital-based healthcare organization in Brooklyn, NY, is seeking a Nurse Manager, Behavioral Health to provide leadership and operational oversight for an inpatient psychiatric unit. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced behavioral health nursing leader who has managed a psych unit in a hospital setting and is looking to join a collaborative, patient-centered environment.
Responsibilities- Oversee day-to-day operations of the behavioral health unit in partnership with department leadership
- Ensure delivery of high-quality patient care while maintaining compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards
- Support admissions, discharges, patient flow, and discharge planning processes
- Lead performance improvement initiatives and support interdisciplinary collaboration across the unit
- Monitor compliance with applicable regulatory agencies including NYSDOH, JCAHO, and other governing bodies
- Prepare and review clinical, operational, and statistical reports as needed
- Support budgeting, supply oversight, and other administrative functions for the unit
- Provide leadership coverage and help ensure operational continuity on a 24-hour basis as needed
- Promote best practices in patient care, staff development, and service excellence
- Participate in continuing education and ongoing professional development activities
- Active New York State RN license
- BSN required; MSN preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Registered Nurse
- Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in psychiatry
- Minimum 2 years of leadership experience
- Prior experience managing a psych unit in a hospital
- Strong knowledge of regulatory standards, quality improvement processes, and root cause analysis
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with electronic medical record and healthcare systems
- BLS
- ACLS
- Crisis Management certification such as PMCS or TRUST
- Experienced inpatient behavioral health nurse leader
- Comfortable balancing clinical, operational, and administrative responsibilities
- Strong team builder with a patient-first mindset
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced hospital setting and lead with professionalism and accountability
- Previous experience working with children under 6
