Job Summary
The Occupational Health Registered Nurse supports employee health, safety, and workplace wellness by conducting health assessments, managing medical surveillance programs, and ensuring compliance with healthcare and regulatory standards. This role is responsible for handling employee health clearances, administering immunizations, managing workplace injury cases, and maintaining accurate clinical documentation. The Registered Nurse works closely with physicians, leadership teams, and HR departments to promote a safe and healthy work environment while ensuring confidentiality and professional patient care standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Conduct post-offer health evaluations, annual assessments, and medical surveillance activities in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Support return-to-work and fitness-for-duty processes, including documentation and coordination with providers and leadership teams.
- Perform respirator fit testing, vision screening, and other occupational health procedures in compliance with OSHA standards.
- Administer immunizations and medications while ensuring proper patient education and documentation.
- Manage work-related injuries and blood/body fluid exposure cases, including triage, documentation, and follow-up care.
- Respond to urgent employee health concerns and elevate cases when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical record systems.
- Monitor vaccine and pharmaceutical inventory, ensuring proper storage and handling procedures.
- Ensure clinical equipment is maintained, calibrated, and compliant with safety regulations.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, HR teams, and operations leadership on employee health and compliance matters.
- Participate in workplace health education, wellness, and prevention initiatives.
- Maintain strict confidentiality while handling sensitive employee health information.
- Deliver professional, respectful, and culturally competent care in all interactions.
- Support high-volume occupational health operations while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license with current registration required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Minimum 5 years of clinical nursing experience.
- Prior experience in Occupational Health, Employee Health, Ambulatory Care, or related healthcare settings preferred.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage confidential and sensitive medical information.
- Experience with EMR systems and occupational health platforms preferred.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, CDC guidelines, and workplace health compliance standards.
- Strong documentation, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
