Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist; CRNA

NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island is a 591‑bed university‑affiliated medical center that provides advanced diagnostic and therapeutic care in almost every specialty and subspecialty of medicine and surgery.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). In this role, the successful candidate administers anesthesia under the supervision of the attending anesthesiologist, including local, inhalation, intravenous, and other anesthetics prescribed during surgery, deliveries, or other medical procedures. The CRNA also institutes resuscitative procedures throughout the hospital, including the recovery room, and is available at all times while on duty.

• Performs complete pre‑anesthetic assessment, including laboratory data, patient history, and physical examination. Establishes good rapport with patients, anticipates needs and possible problems, and functions independently.
• Provides competent post‑anesthetic management, verifying patient identity, maintaining airway, monitoring physiological needs, complete reporting to recovery personnel, and ensuring all medication and equipment records are accurate and disposed of properly.
• Demonstrates professional competence in managing anesthesia, including appropriate airway management, safe technical ability, recognition of problems with corrective action, and coordination with health‑care providers.
• Prepares anesthetic management plans in a systematic manner based on assessment, interpretation, and anticipated procedure, including selection of anesthetic techniques.
• Prepares for case management by assembling essential equipment, ensuring all are in working condition, using universal safety precautions, and labeling and storing syringes appropriately.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

To qualify, you must have a master's degree and a current New York State RN license, CRNA certification or a certificate from an accredited graduate program qualifying to sit for the national boards. BLS, ACLS, PALS, and New York State Infection Control certificates are required.
