Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Location:

Yorktown, NY

Hours/Days: 5/8.5 hour days, Mon-Fri 7:30 a‑6 p

Organization:
New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS)

• Update and maintain the electronic medical record with up‑to‑date vital signs, patient demographics, medication reconciliation, allergies, and medical diagnoses.
• Manage physician inbox messages and prioritize tasks assigned via the electronic medical record.
• Assist in maintaining the medical inventory; place orders for new materials and stock rooms to ensure adequate supplies for physician staff.
• Clean and prepare examination rooms prior to patient appointments.
• Escort patients to exam rooms.
• Provide patient education concerning medications, management of diseases, home treatments, and special diets.
• Assist physician with exams and/or procedures.
• Prepare and administer injections, phlebotomy, and collection of other lab specimens.
• Perform point‑of‑care lab testing.
• Perform EKGs.
• Administer and document medication under a physician’s order and follow the five medication rights to reduce the potential for medical error.

• Current NYS LPN license required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other health‑care professionals.
• Experience with EMR systems.
• Reliable transportation to any NYCBS location for patient care needs.

• Salary:
  Starting at $34 per hour based on experience.
