Job Summary

Essen Health Care is seeking a compassionate and experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) to provide high-quality patient care within our Pulmonology and Gastroenterology specialty practices. The NP will work collaboratively with physicians and multidisciplinary care teams to evaluate, diagnose, treat, and manage patients with acute and chronic pulmonary and gastrointestinal conditions.

The ideal candidate will have strong clinical assessment skills, experience managing complex patient populations, and a commitment to delivering patient‑centered, evidence‑based care.

Responsibilities Clinical Care
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including history and physical examinations.
  • Diagnose, treat, and manage pulmonary and gastrointestinal conditions in accordance with evidence‑based guidelines.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Order, interpret, and review laboratory tests, imaging studies, and diagnostic procedures.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Provide preventive care, health education, and disease management counseling.
Pulmonology
  • Manage patients with conditions such as COPD, asthma, pulmonary hypertension, sleep apnea, chronic cough, interstitial lung disease, and other respiratory disorders.
  • Assist with pulmonary function testing interpretation and follow‑up care.
  • Coordinate care with respiratory therapists and other specialists as needed.
Gastroenterology
  • Manage patients with GERD, IBS, IBD, liver disease, constipation, gastrointestinal bleeding, and other digestive disorders.
  • Evaluate and manage patients before and after GI procedures.
  • Provide education regarding nutrition, lifestyle modifications, and medication adherence.
Collaboration & Documentation
  • Collaborate with physicians, specialists, nurses, and care management teams.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR).
Qualifications Required
  • Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current New York State Nurse Practitioner license.
  • Board Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP), or Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP).
  • DEA registration and New York State prescriptive authority.
  • BLS certification.
  • Strong clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred
  • Previous experience in Pulmonology, Gastroenterology, Internal Medicine, Primary Care, or Specialty Care.
  • Experience working with diverse and medically complex patient populations.
  • Familiarity with eClinical

    Works (eCW) or similar EMR systems.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
