Location: New York
Responsibilities
- Provide training to nurses and staff as required.
- Supervise and schedule nursing staff; develop assignments and daily staffing plans.
- Oversee nursing assessments, medical follow‑up, and the provision of nursing care by LPNs/RNs.
- Review and evaluate nursing documentation, medication charts, and progress notes to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Complete quality assurance reviews and oversee narcotics tracking and management.
- Maintain infection control and environmental standards; ensure a safe, sanitary, and therapeutic environment.
- Act as liaison to consumers’ families, medical consultants, hospitals, community providers, and other health‑care facilities.
- Attend consumer case conferences and participate in admission and discharge planning activities.
- Ensure staff certification in medication administration (AMAPS) and other required training such as first aid, CPR, and agency‑specific courses.
- Identify staff development needs, evaluate in‑service education, and initiate corrective action plans for regulatory issues.
- Support management and administration of nursing services, including program development, budgeting, and committee participation when needed.
- Current license and registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State.
- Three (3) years of post‑licensure clinical nursing experience (one year can be substituted by a bachelor’s degree in nursing; two years can be substituted by a master’s degree).
- Experience supervising nursing staff and performing performance evaluations.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and monitor staffing schedules and to manage nursing documentation and quality control.
- Knowledge of state, federal, and accreditation agency requirements related to nursing care, infection control, and safety.
- Strong communication and liaison skills, with proficiency in coordinating with families, hospitals, and community providers.
