Position SummaryAssistant Nurse Manager – Ambulatory Surgery Center (Manhasset OR). In this role, you will provide clinical leadership and management for a designated shift, collaborate with interprofessional teams, and support staff growth and evidence‑based practices.

- Assist the nurse manager with hiring, onboarding, orientation, education, and evaluation of employees; support student rotations.
- Evaluate performance and assess practice of designated personnel fairly and transparently.
- Model and mentor staff through coaching, counseling, and progressive discipline.
- Monitor staff attendance, staffing levels, and skill mix to optimize patient outcomes and fiscal responsibility.
- Coordinate care delivery and assign staff based on patient needs and competency.
- Assist with scheduling, payroll, and integration of services across the care continuum.
- Provide direct patient care as needed to support unit operations.
- Lead other unit(s) within the service.
- Account for delivery of cost‑efficient, exemplary care.
- Maintain accreditation, regulatory, and policy standards at all levels.
- Communicate clearly and with integrity to build trust with stakeholders.
- Report patient safety, family concerns, risk, and critical events promptly to leadership.
- Maintain regular communication with the Nurse Manager about safety, practice, and staff performance.
- Participate in drafting nursing and organizational policy, engaging front‑line staff.
- Support data collection, analyze results, and drive practice changes to improve outcomes.
- Assist the leadership team with licenses, certifications, and mandated learnings for unit staff.
- Apply high reliability concepts to the unit and organization.
- Encourage inquiry, innovation, and transformation for the future.
- Engage staff in research, quality improvement, and evidence‑based practice.
- Lead the development of new insights for complex situations.
- Exercise independent judgment in discipline, evaluation, and staffing decisions.
- Current Registered Professional Nurse licensure in New York State.
- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing.
- At least 2 years of clinical experience.
- Clinical certification in the patient population served or a nurse leader certification.
- Ability to apply the nursing process to achieve outcomes that improve patient/family satisfaction and quality indicators.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and critical‑thinking skills.
- Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association.
- Physical stamina and manual dexterity to perform responsibilities, including handling reasonably heavy weights.
- Registered Nurse License – NYS
- Basic Life Support Certification
- Master’s degree in Nursing or a health‑related field.
- Two or more years of clinical practice with the patient population served.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
