Location: New York
Position Summary
Assistant Nurse Manager Med/Surg/Rehab (8/11) Evenings (LOH). Provides clinical leadership and management for a designated shift in a patient care unit, applying evidence-based practice to improve patient care and fostering an environment of excellence.
Job Responsibilities- Fosters a culture embedded in NYULH's tripartite mission: to serve, to teach, and to discover.
- Collaborates with interprofessional teams to ensure excellence in quality, patient experience, and efficiency.
- Develops positive relationships across disciplines to establish strategic partnerships with shared goals.

- Engages staff and recognizes contributions to promote professional growth.
- Participates in staff selection, onboarding, orientation, and performance evaluation.
- Provides mentorship and coaching for professional development.
- Monitors staff attendance, ensures appropriate staffing and skill mix, and promotes fiscal responsibility.
- Coordinates care delivery and staff assignment based on patient needs and clinical competency.
- Assists with scheduling, payroll, and integration of services across the care continuum.
- Provides direct patient care as needed.
- Acts as a role model and resource for staff.
- Advances accountability for high-quality, cost-efficient care.
- Maintains accreditation, regulatory standards, and service policies at all levels.
- Communicates effectively to build trust with stakeholders.
- Escorts significant patient or safety issues to leadership in a timely manner.
- Collaborates with Nurse Manager on safety, practice, and staff performance.
- Participates in drafting nursing and organizational policies via shared governance.
- Collects and analyzes data to drive quality and safety improvements.
- Manages licenses, certifications, and mandated training for staff.
- Promotes high reliability concepts and continuous improvement.
- Encourages staff involvement in research, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice.
- Leads innovative design and program development.
- Exercises independent judgment over discipline, hiring, staff approvals, and assignments.
- Current Registered Professional Nurse license in New York State.
- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing.
- Minimum of two years of clinical practice with the patient population served.
- Clinical certification in the patient population or nurse leader certification.
- Demonstrated application of nursing process to achieve outcomes.
- Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, organizational, critical thinking, problem‑solving, and leadership skills.
- Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association.
- Physical stamina and manual dexterity to perform responsibilities.
- Ability to manage responsibilities that involve moving reasonably heavy weights.
- Master's degree in nursing or related health field.
Salary range: $145,600 – $166,950 per year.
