About This Role
We are seeking a Lactation Registered Nurse Specialist to educate and assist breastfeeding mothers and families, fostering a successful breastfeeding experience. This role provides direct and indirect patient care while serving as a resource for the healthcare team.

- Perform and document initial and ongoing breastfeeding assessments.
- Identify nursing diagnoses and expected outcomes from assessment data.
- Reassess patients and report significant changes to the healthcare team.
- Work with staff to achieve maximum breastfeeding outcomes.
- Teach prenatal breastfeeding classes to expectant parents.
- Provide education to maternal–child staff on lactation techniques.
- Perform performance improvement activities related to breastfeeding.
- Maintain a telephone “warm line” for breastfeeding mothers.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
Experience
- 5-7 years of technical experience.
- 0-2 years of leadership/management experience.
Licenses & Certifications
- Current License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
- Certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) required.
