We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Nursing Attendant Unit 4500 - Evening Shift.
Job Responsibilities- Assemble O₂ and suction set‑ups.
- Assist with Admission/Transfer/Discharge of patients: orient patient to hospital environment per Patient Assessment Database; provide toileting supplies; assist patient to remove clothes, complete property check list, safeguard personal property through security; assist in transfer of patients by gathering belongings, completing clothing list, and assisting in moving the patient; prepare bedside unit to receive patients; discharge: assist patient to dress and pack personal belongings;
escort patient as necessary and remain with patient until he/she has left the building. - Conduct patient rounds at least every two hours for toileting, positioning, comfort, safety, and personal needs; answer patient call lights and respond promptly.
- Provide basic hygiene to patients: bathing, PM care, mouth care, denture care, hair care, nail and foot care, shaving; assist patients with bedpan, urinal, and/or commode.
- Prepare patients for meals: clear overbed tables and place within reach; position patient correctly for eating or tube feedings; assist patients by preparing utensils and food items; feed patients; observe tube feedings are dripping and notify RN when feeding bags are near completion.
- Perform and/or assist patient with simple treatments:
Sitz bath, binder application, remove and reapply SCD wraps, ace bandage application, soaks to limbs, simple dressing changes (normal saline), pressure ulcer care (normal saline, hydrocolloid dressing), colostomy care on established colostomy patients, application of ointments and creams including medicated topicals as directed by RN. - Perform enema procedures:
Fleets phosphosoda enema, oil retention enema, soaps suds enema, tap water enema, Harris drip. - Collect urine, stool, and sputum specimens as directed by RN.
- Inform RN of any audible clinical alarms such as IV pumps, feeding pumps, ventilators, bedside monitors.
- Assist with removal and security of patient personal items as indicated on pre‑op check list.
- Assist with assembling traction apparatus.
- Assist with moving, lifting, positioning, and transporting patients.
- Change linen in accordance with policy and as necessary.
- Take and electronically record blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration at least twice a day as directed by RN; report temperature above 99°F and below 97°F to RN.
- Weigh patients and electronically record weight on admission, weekly, and as directed by RN.
- Measure and record oral intake, urinary output, bowel elimination, gastric and other drainage onto I&O record (form or electronic); calculate 8‑hour totals; empty drainage bags.
- Perform and document safety observations for patients on continuous observation or in restraints per policy and as directed.
- Perform control testing and record urine dipstick results per unit policy.
- Report any changes observed in the patient’s condition to RN.
- Respond to and meet patient/family needs and customer concerns promptly with compassion and understanding; establish effective, caring relationships with staff, patients, family, and other members of the health care team.
- Perform post‑mortem care.
- Attend staff meetings and review/sign minutes of meetings not attended.
- Maintain competence through in‑service and educational programs.
