Nursing Attendant- Nursing Service- Night Shift

Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Nursing Attendant – Central Nursing Service – Night Shift (37.5 Hours). The successful candidate assists in the implementation of the nursing process by performing direct and indirect patient care to assigned patients under the supervision of the Registered Professional Nurse. The role involves maintaining an orderly and safe patient care environment and unit.

• Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge of patients, including orienting patients to the hospital environment, providing toileting supplies, and ensuring personal belongings are safeguarded.
• Conduct patient rounds for toileting, positioning, comfort, safety, and personal needs; answer patient call lights and respond promptly to patient needs.
• Assemble O₂ and suction set‑ups.
• Provide basic hygiene care such as bathing, AM/PM care, mouth care, denture care, hair and nail care, shaving, and assistance with bedpan, urinal, and/or commode.
• Prepare patients for meals, position them correctly for eating or tube feedings, assist with utensils, and feed patients.
• Assist patients with simple treatments, remove and reapply SCD wraps as directed by the RN, and assist with enema procedures.
• Collect specimens as directed by the RN.
• Inform the RN of any audible clinical alarms such as IV pumps, feeding pumps, ventilators, or bedside monitors.
• Assist with moving, lifting, positioning, and transporting patients; help remove and secure personal items prior to procedures.
• Change linen in accordance with policy.
• Measure and record vital signs and other patient data electronically and report abnormalities to the RN.
• Weigh patients and record weights electronically at admission and as ordered by the RN.
• Measure and record oral intake, urinary output, bowel elimination, gastric and other drainage onto the I/O record; calculate 8‑hour totals and empty drainage bags.
• Perform post‑mortem care.
• Perform safety observations for patients on continuous observation or in restraints as directed by policy.
• Report any changes in patient condition to the RN.
• Respond to and meet patient/family needs and customer concerns with compassion and understanding; establish effective caring relationships with staff, patients, family, and other team members.
• Maintain competence through in‑service and educational programs.
• Attend staff meetings, review/signed minutes of meetings not attended, and maintain a safe, uncluttered environment of care.
• Assist with supply and equipment management of patient, procedure, and supply rooms per department standards and maintain cleanliness of utility rooms and pantries.
• Perform errands, relieve other units, assist with stretchers, and support other team members as directed.
• Perform other duties aligned with the mission and values of the organization.

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of Certified Nursing Attendant program or minimum 6 months of relevant experience. BLS or Heartsaver CPR/AED certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) is required upon entry to the position.

Competencies:

working knowledge of English in verbal, reading, and writing; strong customer service and communication skills.

Basic Life Support Certificate.

Salary range for the role: $50,559.79 – $50,559.79 Annually.
