Substitute School Nurse

The Substitute School Nurse provides health services to students and staff in the absence of the regular school nurse. Responsibilities include administering medications, offering first aid, managing health records, and responding to illness or injury. The nurse promotes a healthy school environment and works in compliance with district policies and state health regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and treat student illnesses and injuries.
  • Administer medications and monitor medical treatments as prescribed.
  • Maintain accurate health records and documentation.
  • Communicate with parents and staff regarding student health concerns.
  • Support health screenings and emergency response procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Valid New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license or Licensed Professional Nurse (LPN) license.
  • School nursing or pediatric experience preferred.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Strong communication, organization and clinical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and handle confidential information.
