Position Summary
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Certified Midwife (Woodhull), per diem. In this role, under the general direction of the Director of the Midwifery Service, the midwife assumes responsibility and provides health care services in accordance with the standards of Midwifery Practices as defined by the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM) and Midwives. This care includes the management of care of the essentially healthy woman and newborn throughout the childbearing process and the management of gynecologic and inter-conception needs of the essentially healthy woman.
Job Responsibilities- Participates in assigned prenatal, family planning and postpartum care as a health care provider, accepting responsibility for medical evaluation and management according to departmental guidelines and policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Manages normal postpartum care including breastfeeding and patient discharge.
- Manages labor and performs delivery of the infant including resuscitation and physical exam of the newborn.
- Consults and/or collaborates with the physician covering the labor unit as needed.
- Establishes a plan of care in keeping with the patient’s individual needs as well as guidelines and policies.
- Admits patients to labor and delivery including history, physicals and appropriate labs.
- Provides prenatal assessment and screening on the labor and delivery unit.
- Possesses knowledge of NST and BPP.
- Provides prenatal assessment as per credentialing, including limited third trimester sonograms.
- Prescribes medication through prescriptive privileges legislation.
- Provides relevant health supervision and education.
- Collaborates with other health care professionals to ensure comprehensive patient services.
- Utilizes consultation/collaboration and referral appropriately when needed.
- ACNM certification.
- NYS Midwifery license.
- Master’s degree in Midwifery.
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
- 1-3 years of previous experience as a Midwife.
NYU Langone Health provides a salary range for the role of $61.25 - $72.19 hourly. Actual salaries depend on experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses, incentives, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
