Role
Summary:
Nurse America is seeking compassionate and skilled Med Surg RN from Star Lake, NY who will be responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to adult patients with a variety of medical and surgical diagnoses in Upstate New York. This role includes assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, documentation, and patient/family education. The RN must collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, respond to emergent changes in patient condition, and ensure safe, evidence-based practices are followed.
What You’ll Do:
- Perform comprehensive assessments of patients’ physical, psychosocial, and discharge needs
- Develop individualized nursing care plans and update them as needed
- Administer medications, treatments, and therapies as ordered, including IV therapy
- Monitor and interpret vital signs, labs, diagnostics, and patient response
- Recognize and respond to changes in patient status; escalate to appropriate providers
- Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges
- Provide patient and family education for discharge planning, disease process, medications, and home care
- Document nursing care, assessments, interventions, and patient responses in electronic health record (EHR) according to facility policy
- Collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, respiratory therapists, pharmacy, nutrition, and other team members
- Adhere to infection control, safety, and patient rights standards
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, unit meetings, and continuing education as required
What We Need from You:
- Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred or required depending on facility
- Other certifications such as TNCC, PALS, or specialty certifications a plus
