Salaried: $83,200 - $87,360 (depending on experience)
Equivalent Rate: $40-$42/hour
Shift: Full-Time
Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is looking to add an MDS Coordinator to its team. In this role, you'll oversee the MDS assessment process, support reimbursement optimization, ensure regulatory compliance, and provide education and guidance to facility staff. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Complete and oversee MDS assessments in accordance with federal and state regulations
- Ensure comprehensive care plans include appropriate Care Area Assessments (CAAs) and meet required time frames
- Establish and maintain MDS completion calendars and assessment schedules
- Review MDS submissions for accuracy, completeness, and reimbursement optimization
- Monitor assessment coding and documentation to ensure residents' clinical status and services are accurately reflected
- Review reimbursement classifications and identify opportunities to improve reimbursement outcomes
Conduct audits and identify best practices, trends, and opportunities for improvement - Provide consultation and guidance to facility staff regarding MDS processes, coding, documentation, and regulatory requirements
- Develop and implement training programs and educational resources for new and existing MDS staff
- Assist facilities with maintaining compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and long-term care regulations
- Support quality improvement initiatives related to MDS accuracy and reimbursement performance
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum education requirement:
Registered Nurse (RN) License required;
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred - Minimum experience requirement: 5 years of MDS experience required; 7 years of MDS experience preferred
- Prior supervisory experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of state, federal, and local long-term care regulations
- Extensive knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, MDS coding, reimbursement methodologies, and documentation requirements
- Experience with Point Click Care preferred
- Strong auditing, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication, training, and organizational abilities
- Ability to travel to facility locations as needed
