Location: New York

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) to provide specialized nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical procedures. The PACU RN is responsible for monitoring patient recovery, assessing post-operative conditions, administering medications and treatments, and ensuring a safe transition of care. The ideal candidate will have strong Medical-Surgical experience, expertise in IV therapy and conscious sedation, and the ability to respond effectively to changing patient conditions in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive post-anesthesia nursing care to patients recovering from surgical and procedural interventions.
  • Assess, monitor, and document patient status, including airway management, vital signs, pain control, and recovery progress.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments in accordance with physician orders and established protocols.
  • Perform IV insertions, phlebotomy procedures, and ongoing vascular access management.
  • Monitor patients receiving or recovering from conscious sedation and identify potential complications.
  • Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition, initiating appropriate interventions as needed.
  • Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Educate patients and families regarding post-procedure care, recovery expectations, and discharge instructions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
  • Adhere to patient safety, infection prevention, and regulatory compliance standards.
Qualifications
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN or ADN) from an accredited nursing program.
  • Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License.
  • Primary Source Verification of RN License and Registration through the New York State Department of Education (NYSED).
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience
    .
  • Minimum 2 years of IV insertion and phlebotomy experience
    .
  • Minimum 2 years of conscious sedation experience
    .
  • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and patient monitoring skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Previous PACU or perioperative nursing experience.
  • Experience caring for post-anesthesia and post-surgical patients in an acute care setting.
  • Shift is 12 hrs/day (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM), 36 hrs/week
  • Location is Bronx, NY 10461
  • Pay Range for Locals: $71 - $76 per hour
  • Pay Range for Travelers: $3,010 - $3,060 per week
