Per Diem Nurse Practitioner for the Inpatient Hem/Onc Consult team. The role involves the provision, coordination, and assurance of comprehensive nursing care, including diagnosis, therapeutic measures, and prescribing within a collaborative practice agreement with a supervising physician.

• Demonstrate knowledge of the organization’s Service Standards and incorporate them into performance of duties.
• Monitor and report on cost effectiveness of the position relative to efficiency and performance indicators.
• Assist in preparation, implementation, and evaluation of research protocols.
• Collaborate with nursing and other disciplines in development and implementation of clinical studies.
• Use evidence-based health care literature to advise and support appropriate practice changes.
• Participate in development and monitoring of patient outcomes per established protocols for quality improvement.
• Serve as clinical expert and resource for education of peers and other health professionals.
• Maintain current expertise in area of practice and promote professional growth.
• Consider needs and behaviors of specific patient age and cultural groups in all patient care.
• Evaluate treatment and health care plans for effectiveness and modify per clinical standards.
• Practice as a member of the allied health staff according to the rules and regulations of the Medical Staff.
• Facilitate continuity of care across services, including home care and other facilities.
• Provide consultation about therapeutic regimens to nursing staff.
• Collaborate with nursing leadership for timely communication with nursing staff.
• Collaborate with the attending physician to maintain timely communication with family, house staff, and ancillary services.
• Participate in the development and revision of interdisciplinary standards and educational materials.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to develop and implement therapeutic plans and ensure communication with families.
• Plan and organize care to meet individual patient needs and ensure appropriate resource utilization.
• Prescribe medical equipment, devices, therapy services, and home health per protocol.
• Prescribe in-patient and discharge medications, including controlled substances, with DEA authorization.
• Identify, develop, and implement care plans that maximize patient and family preferences and quality outcomes.
• Formulate the plan of care with physician, patient, and family based on expected goals and length of stay.
• Order customary laboratory, radiological, and diagnostic studies per protocols and follow abnormal findings per protocol.
• Perform comprehensive health history, physical examination, and psychosocial assessment of patients.
• Function as a respectful member of the health care team.
• Participate in activities related to professional nursing standards and external agency regulations.

• Current registration as a Professional Nurse in New York and registration as a Nurse Practitioner in New York.
• Master’s Degree in Nursing.
• Certification by ANCC or other specialty board for Nurse Practitioners required soon after graduation.
• Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association.

Registered Nurse License – NYS, Nurse Practitioner License – NYS, Basic Life Support Certificate.

• Advanced Life Support certification (ACLS, PALS) or Neonatal Resuscitation certification (NRP). May be required based on privileges.
• At least five years of clinical nursing practice in the relevant patient population.
• Experience as a Nurse Practitioner preferred.
• Evidence of interpersonal and communication skills, creative problem‑solving, critical thinking, leadership, and teamwork.
• Membership in professional specialty organizations desirable.

Hourly rate: $78.00 – $78.00. Actual salaries depend on experience, specialty, education, and hospital needs. The range does not include bonuses or other forms of compensation.
