Infection Preventionist RN Staff Educator

Central Queens Nursing Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is seeking to fill the position of Staff Educator/Infection Preventionist
.

• Manages educational activities, in accordance with current standards of practice, Federal, State, and Local regulations that govern Skilled Nursing & Long-Term Care facilities to ensure compliance
• Plans, implements, directs, and evaluates the facility’s education program, inclusive of competencies, to meet the needs and expectations of our residents and regulatory requirements
• Coordinates the orientation program to meet the expectations of the facility for new employees
• Plans and publishes the in-service calendar for all mandatory in-services
• Maintains and submits all educational attendance records to Human Resources
• Educates all employees on new and/or revised facility policies and procedures
• Coordinates with all department heads to ensure employee participation for in-services
• Oversees and tracks Infection Prevention & Control processes
• Knowledge of Enhanced Barrier Precautions and all Transmission Based Precautions
• Daily rounding on all nursing units for isolation, hand hygiene/PPE compliance, device rounds and education
• Perform surveillance and investigation for facility acquired infections and infection trends
• Develops facility acquired infection prevention and reduction strategies
• Analyze infection reports and data, as it relates to reporting agency criteria
• Develops and prepares summary reports, including Antibiotic Stewardship, for QAPI committee

• Current New York RN License
• Current CPR certification
• CDC Nursing Home Infection Preventionist Training certification
• Sigma Care EMR experience
• Minimum of 1 year’s experience in nursing supervision or nursing management in a long-term care setting
• Professional attitude, high degree of self-motivation and leadership qualities
• Able to read, write, speak and understand English
• Able to handle the physical demands of the job
