Location: Port Washington
Jogan Health is looking for experienced CNA who is local to or able to commute to Port Washington, NY.
Starting Pay: $24.50/hr

Duration: 13 weeks with a possible extension
- Observes residents and reports to the charge nurse immediately if any unusual conditions/accidents/incidents occur.
- Assists with serving meal trays; feeds residents that need assistance and documents food consumed for each resident assigned.
- Passes out nourishments and water pitchers.
- Cares for clean/soiled linen.
- Maintains clean and orderly resident rooms daily and assures that the call light cord is within easy reach of the resident at all times.
- Makes rounds on assigned residents including physical head count of assigned resident at the beginning of each shift and every 2 hours thereafter.
- Listens to shift report on assigned unit prior to start of assignment for every shift worked.
- Maintains current knowledge base regarding any medication he/she administers. Investigates or looks up unknown medications before administration.
- Checks all first doses against physician order sheet; does not administer medication based on verbal order of nurse.
- Verifies identity of resident receiving medication and records name of drug, dosage and time of administration on specified forms or records.
- Presents medication to resident and observes ingestion or other application, or administers medication, using specified procedures.
- Takes vital signs or observes resident to detect response to specified types of medications and prepares report or notifies designated personnel or unexpected reactions.
- Documents reasons prescribed drugs are not administered.
- Gives direct patient care, such as bathing, dressing and feeding residents, and assisting in examinations and treatments.
- Takes and records temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration rates, and food and fluid intake and output, as directed.
- Maintains order and cleanliness of assigned work area. Washes and sterilizes medical supplies and equipment.
- Answers signal lights, bells or intercom system to determine resident needs.
- Compact or New York State CNA License
- Ability to read, write and comprehend English; ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Interest in the nursing needs of the aged and the chronically ill with the ability to work with both.
- Ability to work with supervisors, co-workers and facility staff in the performance of duties.
- Ability to work hours as scheduled based on the requirements of the position/assignment. On call as necessary.
