Licensed Practical Nurse - Float (LPN) –

Brooklyn, NY –

Hours:

5/8.5 hour shifts, Mon‑Fri 7:30 am‑6 pm – Organization:
New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS)

• Update and maintain the electronic medical record with up‑to‑date vital signs, patient demographics, medication reconciliation, allergies, and medical diagnoses
• Manage physician inbox messages and prioritize tasks assigned via the electronic medical record
• Assist in maintaining the medical inventory; place orders for new materials and stock rooms to ensure adequate supplies for physician staff
• Clean and prepare examination rooms prior to patient appointments
• Escort patients to exam rooms
• Provide patient education concerning medications, management of diseases, home treatments, and special diets
• Assist physician with exams and/or procedures
• Prepare and administer injections
• Phlebotomy and collection of other lab specimens
• Perform point‑of‑care lab testing
• Perform EKGs
• Administer and document medication under a physician’s order and follow the five medication rights to reduce potential for medical error
• Must be willing and able to float throughout our Manhattan locations

• Current NYS LPN license required
• At least 1 year of LPN experience preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Spanish‑speaking preferred
• Consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other health‑care professionals
• Experience with EMRs
• Reliable transportation to any NYCBS location for patient‑care needs

• Salary:
  Starting at $39 per hour
