Role Overview

A Nurse Practitioner specializing in Pediatrics provides comprehensive, outcome-based healthcare services within a military treatment facility. They diagnose, treat, and counsel patients across various conditions, promote preventive care, and collaborate with healthcare teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver general screening, medical care, and examinations for routine, acute, and chronic conditions involving any organ system.
  • Supervise, educate, and provide evidence-based training to staff members and participate in in-service education.
  • Order diagnostic tests, request referrals, and communicate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Promote health maintenance activities, including immunizations and health education.
  • Recognize infection control protocols, ensure universal precautions, and adhere to clinical standards and guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including recording hours worked in designated systems.
  • Complete initial and ongoing training, including orientation, federal, and mandatory courses.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Graduate degree in nursing from an accredited program; certification by PNCB or ANCC.
  • Current, unrestricted licensure in the US; valid BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
  • At least one year of pediatric nurse practitioner experience within the last two years.
  • Proficiency in medical procedures relevant to pediatrics and experience in diagnosing and managing common pediatric conditions.
  • Sufficient initiative, interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with electronic medical records and healthcare software.
Additional Requirements
  • Legal authorization to work in the US; U.S. citizenship required.
  • Ability to relate constructively to diverse patient populations; adherence to military and DHA policies.
