PRN – Veteran Disability Assessment Provider.

Location:

Bushwick, Brooklyn, NY (In-Person). Job Type: PRN (As Needed).

We are seeking detail-oriented Nurse Practitioners to perform Veteran Disability Assessments on a flexible PRN basis at our Bushwick, Brooklyn outpatient practice.

This position is ideal for providers looking to supplement their income while utilizing their assessment and documentation skills in a structured outpatient setting.

This role focuses exclusively on conducting comprehensive disability examinations and completing objective medical documentation. There is no ongoing patient management, allowing providers to concentrate on thorough evaluations and accurate reporting.

This Assessment-Only Role Does Not Include
  • Prescribing medications
  • Ongoing patient management
  • Chronic disease management
Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive Veteran Disability Assessments.
  • Obtain and document detailed medical histories.
  • Perform focused physical examinations.
  • Complete Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs). Complete Medical Opinions (when requested).
  • Document objective clinical findings accurately and thoroughly in the electronic medical record.
  • Respond to quality assurance feedback and complete documentation revisions or clarifications, as needed, within established turnaround times.
  • Maintain compliance with all federal, state, contractual, and HIPAA requirements.
Qualifications
  • Active New York State Nurse Practitioner license in good standing.
  • Current national board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP), or Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP).
  • Minimum of 3,600 hours of post-licensure clinical practice as a Nurse Practitioner, with at least two (2) years of full-time clinical experience, required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Excellent physical assessment, clinical reasoning, and medical documentation skills.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate, timely, and objective documentation.
  • Ability to meet documentation quality standards and required turnaround times.
  • Experience performing Veteran Disability Assessments, Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs), Compensation & Pension (C&P) examinations, Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs), home health assessments (including Start of Care, Recertification, and OASIS assessments), occupational medicine evaluations, or other comprehensive independent clinical assessments is preferred, but not required.
Compensation

Assessment Compensation

$35 for each completed Veteran Disability Assessment

* Paid on the regular biweekly payroll schedule.

Additional Compensation

  • +$5 for each completed Disability Benefits Questionnaire (DBQ)
  • +$10 for each completed Medical Opinion (MO)
  • * Additional compensation is paid separately following finalization and approval of the associated documentation in accordance with payment procedures.
Compensation Examples
  • 1 Veteran Assessment + 1 DBQ = $40
  • 1 Veteran Assessment + 5 DBQs = $60
  • 1 Veteran Assessment + 14 DBQs = $105
  • 1 Veteran Assessment + 14 DBQs + 1 Medical Opinion = $115
