You're not the first to make this career change.Three members of our Health Sciences faculty—includingb>two Registered Nurses and one pharmacist—left clinical practice to become educators. They understand the transition firsthand and are eager to support a new colleague making the same journey.
This position allows you to continue using your clinical expertise while enjoying the work-life balance of the New York City public school calendar—including evenings, weekends, holidays, and summers off.
As a member of our Health Sciences CTE team, you will:- Teach Health Sciences coursework that prepares students for careers in healthcare.
- Prepare students for the New York State Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification examination.
- Supervise students during clinical rotations at an affiliated nursing home.
- Create engaging lessons using simulations, laboratory activities, and authentic patient-care scenarios.
- Coach students in professionalism, communication, ethics, teamwork, and patient care.
- Collaborate with educators and healthcare partners to provide meaningful career-connected learning experiences.
- Inspire students to pursue careers that make a difference in their communities.
- Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN)
- Eligibility for the New York State Transitional A Career and Technical Education Teaching Certificate in Practical Nursing
- Experience precepting, mentoring, or supervising nurses, nursing students, or healthcare staff
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- A passion for helping young people succeed
