RN Supervisor plans, directs, provides, and evaluates nursing care and works to ensure each person adheres to the mission and philosophy of the Taylor Health Center.

The RN Supervisor reports to the Director of Nursing, Long Term Care. Annual performance evaluations are conducted by that Director.

• Carry out facility policies; model time management, conscientiousness, dedication, self‑discipline, accountability, and responsibility.
• Possess clinical assessment skills and clinical judgment; respond to emergency situations; serve as a resource for staff and perform procedures to teach, model, or facilitate care.
• Maintain and/or enhance the self‑esteem of others through listening, empathy, and clear communication; answer inquiries accurately and timely.
• Write reports, memos, and evaluations clearly, concisely, and on time; use the computer appropriately for written communication.
• Give clear directions, explain reasons for decisions, solicit staff input to enhance group capabilities; complete assigned projects and address staff issues with appropriate referrals.
• Strive to improve competence through skill development, staying abreast of nursing trends, and supervision/management theory.
• Ensure safety of employees and residents on assigned shift; act in an administrative capacity in the absence of the Director of Nursing and Assistant Director of Nursing as assigned.
• Complete initial resident profiles and update them per care plans.
• Implement age‑ and diversity‑specific care for customers and residents.
• Maintain ongoing rapport with family members or designees.
• Receive resident reports from staff nurses and convey pertinent information to the interdisciplinary team.
• Review resident condition with the Clinical Care Coordinator; communicate relevant information to involved physicians; call families regarding condition changes.
• Work with Unit Coordinator on referrals to clinics and other physicians as needed.
• Participate in orientation of new employees.
• Collect quality review studies and participate in the Quality Assurance program.
• Handle all situations professionally, tactfully, politely, and courteously toward residents, visitors, and staff.
• Regularly confer with the Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, and Clinical Care Coordinator.
• Participate in meetings and committees as requested.
• Encourage staff morale and teamwork; interact with staff from other disciplines and areas professionally.
• Interpret the nursing care plan and communicate it to assigned nursing staff.
• Delegate responsibility for direct nursing care of specific residents during each shift.
• Assist in scheduling duties as needed.
• Assist units with emergent situations and follow through on new orders.
• Supervise overall nursing activities on each shift.
• Evaluate and perform nursing care per physicians' orders and facility policies.
• Assist with medication pass and treatments as needed.
• Explain procedures and treatments to residents in a manner appropriate to their understanding.
• Consistently administer treatments, apply apparatus, use equipment safely; lift, position, transfer, and transport residents with proper mechanics and equipment; assist physicians with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Exercise sound nursing judgment in emergency situations; supervise non‑professional personnel in resident care.
• Respect resident rights as outlined in the Resident Rights and Responsibilities Manual.
