The Head Nurse of Ambulatory Care Services oversees the nursing regimen for patients within the Ophthalmology unit, ensuring high-quality care through effective leadership and collaboration with healthcare teams.

• Direct the development, implementation, and evaluation of the nursing regimen for patients.
• Identify and discriminate between physical and psycho-social signs and symptoms.
• Develop, implement, and continuously evaluate the nursing regimen for assigned patients.
• Record and maintain nursing care plans and progress notes on patients.
• Interpret and report responses of patients to appropriate health team members.
• Participate with interdisciplinary health team members to plan comprehensive patient care.
• Provide teaching, guidance, and direction to allied nursing personnel.
• Participate in defining, implementing, and maintaining nursing practice standards.
• Conduct conferences to develop nursing care plans and promote staff development.
• Maintain professional competence through participation in continuing education.

• Current New York State RN License required.

• Annual education differential based on degree:
  • Bachelors in allied health discipline = $900
  • Masters in allied health discipline = $1,200
  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) = $1,800
  • Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) = $2,000
  • Doctorate in Education, Nursing Practice or PhD in Nursing (DNP) = $2,500
• Annual certification differential ranging from $1,878 up to $4,878 for recognized certifications.
• Annual nursing experience differential ranging from $1,042 up to $8,645 for up to 10 years of experience.
