Infection Control Specialist
Duties include but are not limited too:
- Monitor, trend, and track infection control issues; recommend and implement system changes to improve patient care
- Provide HIV testing, counseling, and case management services
- Develop and deliver educational programs on infection control for all staff, including new employees
- Serve as a consultant and resource for infection control matters across the facility
- Participate in interdisciplinary committees and quality improvement teams to evaluate and enhance clinical practice
- Analyze infection patterns, define risk factors, and identify high-risk areas for hospital-acquired infections
- Ensure compliance with VA, VISN, Medical Center, and external regulatory standards (TJC, OSHA)
- Evaluate and revise policies and procedures related to infection control and safety
- Promote and utilize information systems for infection control planning and management
- Participate in epidemiological studies and integrate evidence-based research into infection control practices
- Coach and mentor staff in infection control, infectious diseases, and professional development
- Collaborate with Employee Health and Human Resources on healthcare personnel infection control
- Recognize and report unsafe or unhealthy conditions/practices; educate staff on safe work practices and PPE
- Advocate for patient and family rights, confidentiality, and ethical standards
- Maintain membership in professional organizations and participate in compliance awareness education
- All other duties as assigned

Pay:
Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards
