What you'll do
  • Assists the DON in development, implementation, and evaluation of on-going service programs that assure quality nursing and resident care programs consistent with Bassett Health Network mission
  • Participates in program development proposal as requested by DON
  • Monitors/Maintains unit compliance with regulatory, accrediting and hospital policy for resident services, and environmental and personnel safety
  • Accurately identifies real/potential problems affecting the service and implements solutions with follow-through and communication
  • Assesses need for personal growth and development and takes the initiative in seeking opportunities to meet this need.
  • Oversees unit CQI programs that monitors and evaluates critical aspects of care
  • Fosters a service that is consistent with the resident care beliefs and shared management philosophy of the department
  • Consults with residents/families though primary nurse request, direct family request, and/or direct assessment of resident/family response to condition change. Assesses resident/significant other survey responses regarding nursing care and services
  • Responsible for on-going development of staff and unit specific resident care programs
  • Responsible for effective and efficient fiscal management of department operations to ensure proper utilization of organizational and financial resources
  • Responsible for department’s operational excellence; ensures department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies
  • Manages human resources to assure quality services and promote positive employee relations
  • Promotes a positive image of professional nursing and serves as a role model to staff
  • Attains all agreed to goals and objectives within specified time frames, as part of the organization’s overall mission
  • Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job‑related hazards
  • Follows the hospital exposure control plans/blood borne and airborne pathogens
  • Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all residents, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment
  • Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team inter- and intra-departmentally to facilitate the department’s/ unit’s ability to meet its goals and objectives
  • Accepts Supervisor assignment as requested
  • Provides resident education as needed
  • Accepts charge responsibility as directed
  • Performs medication administration in an efficient manner as needed
  • Ensures adequate staffing for all shifts.
What we need from you

Education:
  • 2 Year / Associate Degree and Current registration as RN in NYS, required
  • 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree with concentration in Nursing, preferred
  • *** All RN’s hired and do not currently hold a BSN will be expected to demonstrate enrollment in a bachelor’s prepared nursing program within 4 years of hire. BSN must be completed within 10 years. RN’s licensed on or before 12/19/17 are/remain exempt from this requirement.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of long term care clinical experience, preferred
License/Certification:
  • Current NYS License to practice as an RN, required
  • BSN License, preferred
  • BLS Certification, required

Physical Requirements:
