Job Summary:
The SMH Level 2 Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized nursing care on an adult medical/surgical unit serving patients with active co-morbid psychiatric and behavioral issues. This role demands adaptability in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, delivering comprehensive care that integrates medical and psychiatric nursing. The RN collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams and participates in on-call and charge nurse responsibilities, supporting unit growth and patient well-being.
Responsibilities:- Provide skilled nursing care to patients with complex medical and psychiatric/behavioral needs.
- Perform patient assessments, medication administration, and treatment planning tailored to dual medical and psychiatric conditions.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate and optimize patient care.
- Adapt nursing practices to the evolving needs of a unique, expanding unit.
- Participate in on-call rotations and assume charge nurse duties as assigned.
- Maintain accurate documentation and utilize electronic medical records systems.
Certifications:
- Active Registered Nurse license in New York State.
- Minimum of 2 years recent medical/surgical nursing experience.
- Psychiatric nursing experience.
- Telemetry nursing experience.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Certifications:
- Experience with EPIC electronic medical records system.
- Flexibility, enthusiasm, and commitment to professional growth within the unit.
- Work includes rotating day, evening, and night shifts.
- Schedule involves weekends, holidays, on-call, and callback duties as needed.
- Unit specializes in patients with combined medical and psychiatric/behavioral conditions, requiring specialized skills and sensitivity.
- Opportunity for dual certification in medical/surgical and psychiatric nursing after meeting experience requirements.
- Rotating shifts covering day, evening, and night hours.
- Includes weekend and holiday rotations.
- On-call and callback responsibilities are part of the schedule.
